In the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Gene Wilder says one of my favorite quotes; we are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams. [http://www.uselessmoviequotes.com/umq_w006.htm]. That phrase is part of my daily life, I make music and I dream. If I could, I would is a powerful wish and I don’t even know where to start when given this opportunity to let my imagination run wild. The infinite possibilities are flashing through my mind as if flipping the pages of a book with your thumb. The duality of this wish pulls me to both sides of the spectrum. If I could, I would do everything and I would do nothing.
If I could, I would assist my fellow brothers and sisters in the human community. I would end world hunger, end war, and end all world conflict if I could. If I could, I would bring peace and tranquility within myself and teach others how to achieve their own. I would visit all the wonders of the world and all our religions holy locations. I would explore every ecosystem on planet earth, our solar system and beyond if I could. If I could, I would absorb the wisdom each location had to give. I would be fluent in every human and animal language and talk to the trees if I could.
If I could, I would have all the powers of the coolest superheroes and party like the coolest super villains. If I could, I would travel the world spreading the earth’s knowledge through music. I would write my adventures as screenplays and have my family production company make the film. If I could, I would only eat at my beach bar restaurants located at multiple exotic sites. I would drum and chant atop Machu Picchu and all the ruins throughout Mesoamerica if I could. If I could, I would do everything.
Solitude is the flip side to that exuberant lifestyle; if I could, I would do nothing. I would be a piece of coral, never moving, watching the vast ocean pass by. If I could, I would isolate myself in a private sanctuary where I would have all that I need to survive, with a few vices of course. I would be responsible for nothing and live care free in an Aztec pyramid style home. I wouldn’t have any knowledge of world issues and I would spend my days in a meditative trance if I could. If I could, I would leave my physical body and interact with the spirit world to keep me company. I would immerse myself in a vacuum of space and listen to the silence. If I could, I would do nothing.
If I could I would is a great catalyst to get your mind to think about what you want in life. It has opened a box containing the ultimate wish list and that box cannot be closed. Once these ideas are out on paper there is no turning back. You have now told the universe what you wish for and the universe will answer with opportunities. If I could, I would take those opportunities by the horns with confidence and change that phrase to I can and I will!
